"...My aim is to produce paintings about the process of contemplation, the odd associations one makes and the way one’s inner world may spontaneously ignite as a result of one’s prolonged interaction with a fixed object. The process of painting is in a way a process of communication, a process of understanding, which is certainly far beyond that of making. My researches into techniques, media and pigment of the Old Masters and the painstaking working procedure have led my works to a highly finished surface and a sense of timelessness." |
