“When I am not painting in my studio, I like make trips to the countryside and coast and continue to draw inspiration from my travels. To me, the experience of being outdoors is about emotionally connecting with the landscape and its surroundings. I may visit the same place at different times, but each time the place is changed by the light, the weather and the flora, and that inspires me to draw and paint and to experience the place afresh – as if visiting it for the first time. My paintings are a desire to capture something about the essence of what it feels like to be there.
People often value paintings of a place they have visited because they need to feel a connection with it. The sounds, the smells, the sensation of being healthy and alive. I want my landscapes to share in that sensation.......”
