Statement
Cathy Campbell graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. She has exhibited throughout UK over the last twenty years and has work in many private collections.
Cathy is a colourist - in the true sense of the word. She paints from her studio near Glasgow, and the process most often begins with a window or natural light. Her inspiration comes from light falling on the many objects that she has accumulated. She says "I don't think it's a question of making a portrait of the objects or of telling a story. It's about shapes, colour, darkness and light and their relationship to each other". Cathy loves the process of painting and might re-visit the work many times, resulting in very thick, textural surfaces.
