Statement
Lesley Whelan is a contemporary visual artist, who has been producing work for over 10 years. She has exhibited widely and her work has appeared in both group and solo shows throughout the U.K.
In 2003, Lesley was artist-in-residence at the University of Birmingham's Botanic Garden. She used the garden's plant collections and research materials as inspiration for her large-scale, multi-media paintings. Her fascination with line, colour and texture is reflected in the botanical imagery she paints with such instinct.
Her work is held in corporate and private collections throughout the U.K., Europe, Canada, USA, Dubai, Australia and South Africa.
There will be new work from Lesley at Purple Gallery in December 2010.
