Anneliese Appleby xx>>>
PRINTMAKER

Anneliese initially studied for a BA in Graphic Design. She taught printmaking for ten years and then completed an MA in Multidisciplinary Printmaking at UWE Bristol. Her influences are predominantly found in and around her home and garden in rural Herefordshire and her preferred media are Lino Prints and Silk Screen.

Whilst gardening, Anneliese came across a fragment of blue and white kitchen ceramic. The glaze was crackled and the pattern only told a fraction of the "big picture". She put the chard in her pocket and later cleaned it up and left it on her kitchen window sill.

She wondered who it might have belonged to and what history our ephemeral possessions and belongings tell of our existence. This tiny piece of china directed her on a journey that resulted in her researching the historic context of the garden and led to her creating a series of blue and white prints centred around the garden.
