Jenny Devereux
Statement

Jenny was born in Surrey but spent the majority of her life in the South West of England where she gains continual inspiration for her artwork. A largely self-taught artist, Jenny was introduced to etching in 1976 when she attended classes at Penwith Print Room.

Jenny has a highly individual approach to printmaking. Each image is produced using only one copper etching plate printed onto Japanese paper to produce her superb textile effect. Each image is then hand-mounted onto a backing paper. Depth and texture are achieved through the use of aquatints and paper cut-outs. Jenny explores the effects of vibrant colour on special hand made papers creating a superb saturation of glowing colour.

Surrounding herself by the beauty of the region Jenny finds herself inspired to paint floral scenes both from her garden and indoor still-life arrangements. Well known in Great Britain and Europe, Jenny’s work has now also become increasingly sought after by collectors in Japan and America.
