Birmingham born Sculptor Adrian Holbeche has been working with stone sculptures for the last fourteen years.
“I enjoy the material, the process and the physical nature of stone carving and there is great variety with stone. Whilst I have created more figurative work, a love of simple forms and coast and beach-related themes often act as a starting point and my current ripple and water forms seem to have pervaded of late. The great variety of stone, its different characteristics and appearance often inspire their own forms and conclusions when I carve. The process of reduction from the initial block or piece, the tools that are used, the marks made and the varying techniques and effort required, mean that every piece offers a new challenge".
