NEW ARTISTS TO PURPLE GALLERY Rowan & Liz Yorath

After studying at Cardiff College of Art and the City of Leicester Polytechnic, Rowan Yorath went on to teach in Peterborough. Rowan has painted for a number of years and his work may be found in private collections in the U.K., United States, New Zealand and France. His recent work reflects his interest in the large open spaces of the Fens and the sea. His paintings are all made in oil and are painted on board.

Liz Yorath also studied at Cardiff College of Art and went on to further study at Cardiff University. Her recent work has been developed from personal and family memories and from a fascination with the continuity of experience evoked through more than four generations of family imagery. Often evoking similar memories in the viewer, her works are becoming increasingly collected.

NEW SCULPTURE - Bronzes by Rachel Ricketts

Rachel grew up in Birmingham and attended Bournville School of Art where she studied Design, followed by a Foundation Course in Fine Art, before going on to Art School in Norwich. After graduating in 1980 she stayed for a while in Norfolk and then moved to London. Whilst there, she developed an interest in the conservation of paintings and sculpture which led to further study and qualifications.

In 1995, Rachel became a full time artist, working predominantly with sculptures cast in small editions in bronze, but also producing single edition ceramic pieces.
