Anneliese Appleby
Anneliese initially studied for a BA in Graphic Design. She taught printmaking for ten years and then completed an MA in Multidisciplinary Printmaking at UWE Bristol. Her influences are predominantly found in and around her home and garden in rural Herefordshire and her preferred media are Lino Prints and Silk Screen.
Whilst gardening, Anneliese came across a fragment of blue and white kitchen ceramic. The glaze was crackled and the pattern only told a fraction of the "big picture". She put the chard in her pocket and later cleaned it up and left it on her kitchen window sill. She wondered who it might have belonged to and what history our ephemeral possessions and belongings tell of our existence. This tiny piece of china directed her on a journey that resulted in her researching the historic context of the garden and led to her creating a series of blue and white prints centred around the garden.

Claire West
Claire studied at Humberside University and gained a B.A.Honours in Fine Art. Her earliest memory from school was of drawing a house and feeling proud that her work was the most colourful!
Claire paints mostly in acrylics and mixed media and likes to use colours that are often believed to not work together. In doing this, she hopes to break down the boundaries of what should be done, resulting in a freedom to fully explore and experiment with paint. |

Sarah Uff
Sarah is a textile artist with a passion for feltmaking. She lives and works in a rural East Leicestershire village where she individually hand crafts her products from rare breed British wools.
Sarah loves working with natural forms and finds the real beauty of handmade felt lies in the irregularities in the final product. She enjoys working with colour and gains inspiration from combinations found in nature and the landscape. Her work aims to give the traditional art of feltmaking a modern and contemporary twist.
This exhibition introduces a wide range of Sarah's felt jewellery which has been exquisitely crafted from the finest quality merino wool tops in a wonderful array of colours.

FEATURED ARTIST: Giuliana Lazzerini |

The Tuscan landscape and childhood memories still bear a strong influence upon Giuliana's current work. In an earlier statement she describes her first encounters with art in Italy as a child in her father's mosaic studio. She refers to the "translucency of the mosaic fragment" and her "fascination with the vibrancy of colour" from the juxtapositioning of the pieces. These early perceptions, several years on, provide a language and a vocabulary for her pictures in terms of colour, surface, scale of which she uses in the construction of her tapestry-like, interlocking, angular-surfaced village landscapes. |
